Pros And Cons Of Having Home Solar Power Systems
Posted on | September 7, 2010 | No Comments
With so many people turning to solar energy these days to fuel their electricity needs, solar energy is indeed emerging as a top player. It is gaining popularity because of its efficiency, durability and environment friendliness. Read this article and discover the pros and cons of home solar power systems.
Pros of the home solar power systems:
1. Reliability – Unlike fossil fuels, solar energy can never run out. In other words, the energy generated by the sun can never be completely exhausted and we will always have unlimited supply of solar energy at or dispersal. This is considered the greatest benefit of solar energy. So if you install home solar power systems, you can rest assured that you will always have sufficient electricity at your dispersal.
2. Economic – Installing home solar panels prove to be a very economic option for you as after the initial set-up cost, you practically never need to pay any more money. Solar energy is free and in turn frees you from your monthly electricity payments as well.
3. Being Eco friendly – At a time when the entire world is battling environmental hazards, the use of solar panels at home proves to be a very strong weapon in this battle. Solar energy is an extremely environmentally friendly option as it doesn’t consume the already depleting fossil fuels of the earth. Tress need not be cut to fuel the home solar power systems and so they really do prove to be a boon.
Cons of the home solar power systems:
1. Reliability on the sun – Since the home solar panels require the sun to shine brightly upon them, at places where there is less sunlight, the running of these devices become difficult. This specially happens in the northern hemisphere, where certain places do not see the sunlight for even 6 months at a stretch. The same issue is faced by people during the monsoons.
2. Installation charge – The initial installation charge of home solar power systems is very high. This is a huge drawback of the home solar power systems. Due to this, a lot of people stay away from the systems as affordability becomes an issue
It can be seen that the pros of the home solar power systems overpower the cons and hence it proves to be a great power option. If you too are thinking of getting home solar power systems, you must do so immediately. With the globe going green, you must put in your share of contribution too.
New Spill Began By Tow Boats In New Orleans
Posted on | September 7, 2010 | No Comments
The BP oil spill will affect everybody around the Gulf of Mexico for years and years. New Orleans could have even more issues consider the towboat, Pere Ana C, hit an oil rig and created one more oil spill, reports the Associated Press. The Louisiana marshland was hit and there was a wellhead in head. Now the Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser told MSNBC that there is oil shooting to the air about 20 feet. Post resource – Tow boat smacks into New Orleans oil well, causes new spill by Personal Money Store.
Discover this well south of New Orleans
The gushing oil well is located in an inland waterway along the border between Plaquemines Parish and Jefferson Parish, approximately 65 miles south of New Orleans. The area is a marsh not accessible via roads. Workers for the recovery were stationed in Barataria Bay already moving oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster within the Gulf of Mexico. The owner of the newly damaged well is currently unknown. Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts explains that there is quite a bit of oil coming from the Pere Ana C. collision. It is nevertheless unknown how much of the oil is leaking or how it can be cleaned up considering the area is only accessed by boat. Some officials are concerned that as well as oil, natural gas may be leaking, as gas clouds were reported in the area.
Pere Ana C. was close to Mud Lake
Mud Lake was the approximate location of the Pere Ana C. collision early Tuesday morning. The Coast Guard ship went to the LaRose area after this happened. No injuries resulting from the crash were recorded. Media sources say that authorities are trying to find who the well belongs to so they can find someone to clean it up. Hopefully cleaning up this won’t cost nearly as much as Deepwater Horizon cost BP.

It Will End In Disaster – Please Do Not Talk Politics At Work
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
People learnt a long time ago that getting into full blown discussions at work and in the office about sex, religion and politics are a very touchy aspect. They are bound to always end up going in the wrong direction (by this I mean a major disagreement). The fact of this is because you can either offend a colleague or get into a full blown out of proportion argument.
This doesn’t mean that you should seek out those who are powerful and hang onto them, however. It means, simply, that you should learn to remain balanced in your outlook regardless of the machinations of the power politics that constantly swirl around you. How? By being content with yourself and your personal power, without need for anything else.
Plato, the I Ching, and others like them counsel that to gain the power that we all intrinsically seek, we should focus on becoming stronger within, because the power we are looking for does not lie in the ability to hire and fire, or to be noticed or praised; it lies in the ability to no longer care about either your own position in relation to that of others or even what they think.
How do you get this healthier outlook on life and the opinions of others? Most likely you are quite familiar with what you believe is your weakness and your concerns about your image. But to find the power within yourself to not care about what you can’t control, you will need to become reacquainted with your own strength.
Once you welcome its return, or better said, your return to it, it will allow you to question your anxieties and brush aside your convictions of personal frailty. As you become free of such debilitating barriers to certainty, you will begin to see yourself in a more kindly light and wonder how you ever let the darkness of doubt have its way with you for so long.
When people speak about politics, especially if they of an extremist nature, they tend to get all worked up. So avoiding any discussions of politics in the work place, would be the best bet, as team spirit has the potential to be broken by a wave of insults. The only thing that can end up happening once team spirits are broken is work not being completed to full satisfaction.
Even if you agree with each other in your discussions and are on the same wave length, this can still spell a recipe for disaster. You may well be overheard or understood by a different variety of other characters. Which could ultimately end your career promptly.
Political and religion chit chatter are not really classed as discussions, because people do not want to talk they just want to constantly put there views across. A lot of these so called discussions always end badly. It will result in a lot of hard feelings even after the conversation has ended.

The Fantastic Option Of Pool Solar Panels
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
The Fantastic Option Of Pool Solar Panels
Many people consider buying a heater for their pool water, especially when they are located in a cooler temperature zone, or summer weather does not last very long. Pool solar panels are a choice that has recently been rising in popularity due to its cost-effective nature and ease of use. With the use of a heater, swim-time can extended further throughout the day, as well as throughout the year.
After the original set-up, panels do not require much in the way of cleaning and maintenance throughout the swimming season. For better longevity, the energy panels can be stored in a safe place during the rainy season, or when swimming is least desired. They are designed to attach to rooftops, and sometimes even large, reliable trees, in order to catch the sun’s rays.
The way energy from the sun is transferred to pool water is through special tubes attached to the panels. The tubes are lined with emitters that convert captured energy into heat, so when water passes back out into the pool through the pump valve, heat disperses gradually throughout the rest of the water. Eventually, the entire pool temperature could be raised to around ten degrees Fahrenheit/five degrees Celsius higher than it would be on its own.
Supporting cleaner power sources for the environment is a growing cause in today’s society, and these sun-utilizing devices emit absolutely no pollution. They are also very cost effective, saving users on their electric bill since they are powered solely by the sun. While other heaters are costly to run and install, solar energy eventually pays for itself with what it saves in power every month.
Every pool has different needs when it comes to water heaters. The first variable to look at is the size of the pool and how much water it contains, because smaller pools will need fewer panels, while larger will need more. The second is whether the pool is in-ground or above ground, since different heater versions have been created specifically for the two kinds of pool.
Buyers are encouraged by the promise that solar panel installation will take very little time, and be a simple process. Certain products prove to be more geared toward those with an eye for handiwork, but many provide ample instructions for the average user. By remaining a do-it-yourself project, it lowers the price of the product that professional installation may have possibly doubled.
Whether the pool is above ground, in-ground, big, or small, a heater is a great way to stretch the enjoyment that can be had from it. Being able to swim on a whim while promoting health for the environment is the main reason people choose pool solar panels. They offer a fast and simple way to get the water warm so the party can get started.

The United States, Over 10 Years, Will Pay About $42 Billion For Agent Orange
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
Vietnamese children have had numerous birth disorders from the herbicide/chemical weapon Agent Orange. Not only that, however over a million American veterans were hurt by it as well. Scores of troops who enlisted or were chosen to serve their country came home with such conditions as acute peripheral neuropathy, soft tissue sarcoma and Hodgkin’s lymphoma, to name a couple of. There is a new ruling that says 270,000 Vietnam War veterans could be getting compensation for any diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s and types of leukemia. The Washington Post reports that that is around a quarter of the a million that are already getting disability checks right now. This means that $42 billion can be spent by American working class on this in ten years.
Agent Orange came with anything between diabetes and erectile dysfunction
According to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, diabetes is the most common Agent Orange-related medical complication Vietnam veterans face. Erectile dysfunction is a disease that normally age would cause however now is being tied Agent Orange, which means veterans get additional compensation. Alan Simpson thinks that this compensation is way far off from what federal spending is attempting to do. Alan Simpson is the chairman of President Obama’s deficit commission.
“The irony (is) that the veterans who saved this country are now, in a way, not helping us to save the country in this fiscal mess,” he said.
Taxpayers are simply paying for “presumptive conditions” if you ask Sen. Daniel K. Alkaka (D-Hawaii). He is on the veteran’s Affairs Committee. September 23, or soon after, Alkaka plans to be at a hearing addressing “what changes Congress and also the VA may need to make to existing law and policy.” The Post received this information from an email.
VA spending doesn’t compute
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs might end up paying too much for Vietnam veterans with diabetes, says the Associated Press. Independent calculations based on VA records show that only $850 million a year is needed to help those with diabetes. Sadly, the VA’s numbers are much higher than that. A forty two billion dollars increase in the next ten years is a huge leap from the $34 billion a year the VA already spends on disability benefits for United States veterans.
Then there’s the ‘Credible evidence for association’
Victoria Anne Cassano is the Veterans’ Health Administration Director of Radiation and Physical Exposures. She explains that there was a federal law created on Agent Orange in 1991 saying that chemical agents and afflictions do have a correlation with Agent Orange “if the credible evidence for the association is equal to or outweighs the credible evidence against the association.” The Post reports it doesn’t take much to meet that burden of proof. Cassano asks, “Does it make you take a deep breath? Does it give you pause? Yes. However you still do what you think is the right thing to do.”

God Is Not Essential For Scientific Research, Claims Hawking
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
Hawking feels like God is unnecessary when it comes to the comprehending of the galaxy. If you asking Hawking, or his co-author of “The Grand Design”, Leonard Mlodinow, God is just something composed by humans. The Grand Design has touched off a debate on the struggle between science and religion. Hawking believes that gravity is what made it so the whole world could possibly be created. He thinks no God could possibly be a part of this. People who disagree with Hawking say science, being limited by laws of nature for instance gravity, is an inadequate approach to comprehending the role of God within the whole world.
Is Stephen Hawking or Sir Isaac Newton right?
Stephen Hawking’s new book, “The Grand Design,” squares off against the beliefs of Sir Isaac Newton, according to The Guardian. Newton stated that God intended the whole whole world. It seemed impossible to Newton the whole world could have formed spontaneously. Hawking’s beliefs say the galaxy was able to be created because of gravity. Hawking believed in God in 1998 when his book became bestseller. This book, reports the Guardian, is called “A Brief History of Time”. In that book Hawking wrote that he accepted the role of God within the creation of the Galaxy. “If we discover a complete theory,” he wrote, “it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason – for then we should know the mind of God.”
Hawking bets on science to win
Hawking is considered a successor of Newton. This is because he was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge in London. In 1992, a planet was found orbiting a distant star. This is when, states Hawking, the first doubt to Newton’s idea of the world being formed in chaos, came to him, he states in “The Grand Design”. Hawking said that humans simply created a God in their own image to have somebody to have a personal relationship with. He said this in an interview with ABC in June. He also believed that humans are completely insignificant. He said that humans were an incident and unimportant to the universe. Science will win between science and religion, ABC News reports Hawking saying.
Everyone needs an explanation from Hawking
Hawking’s position that the world emerged naturally is dismissed as a “classic agnostic response” by William Crawley at the BBC, and people of faith have a right to disagree. Crawley explains that God is necessary for everyone however evidently Hawking when it comes to comprehending the whole world. There is not anything in “The Grand Design” proving there is no religious part in the galaxy. There are no facts proving the theory. Other scientists also disagree with Hawking. Professor George Ellis, president of the International Society for Science and Religion, told Fox News that Hawking offers a false choice between science or religion in which science may be the loser. “A lot of people will say, OK, I choose religion then,” he said very obviously. “It is science that will lose out.”

Even During Tough Economic Times – Sam Walton Theory Of Five And Dime Thrives
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
I remember when Wal-Mart became the largest company in the world. No one could have predicted that some country boy from a smudge on the map would have started a juggernaut whose scheme soaked into the fabric of all global markets. The early sales genius of Sam Walton in the 1940 ’s revolved around a very simple concept: buy low and sell everything for less than your competitors.
The company operates on that same concept today, but on a global scale that no other company can compete with. While their profit margin per product is low, it is the volume of the products sold that puts Wal-Mart ahead in the retail game.
Have you been affected in 2009 by any of the following:
- Shrinking 401-k
- Loss of a job
- Foreclosure
- Underemployment
- Living off of retirement savings
- Loss of a business
- Increased Debt Load
- Bank Failures
These events and many more have happened with regular frequency during 2009.
For most of us, what we have experienced is something that we have never been through in our lifetime. The events we went through in 2009 are like the floods that Georgia experienced a week ago. Interstate highways closed, 2,000 or more homes destroyed, school cancelled, bridges out and 10 people lost their lives. The people who track these types of flood events say that the level of the water far exceeded any 100 year flood maps that existed for this area of Georgia. Unprecedented is how they put it.
Unprecedented!
Sarah and her husband Elvin were in the hay business in Alabama. They hauled hay from the fields to the stores or farms in the central part of the state. One year the rains failed, and the hay fields were depleted early in the growing season. Elvin heard that Tennessee had plenty of hay for sale. So, they proceeded to drive up Interstate 65, make their purchase, and deliver hay to their usual clientele, for the same price they were getting before.
The best laid plans don’t always produce the intended result. As it was, Elvin was buying the hay for a dollar a bale and selling it for a dollar a bale. It didn’t take long for the couple to realize that their plan wasn’t working.
Sarah said, “Elvin, we need to do something different. We ain’t making any money.”
Her husband replied, “Yeah. I think we need a bigger truck.”
Needless to say, Elvin and Sarah’s hay business never launched into a competing global conglomerate or billion dollar company. Elvin just didn’t have the “right stuff.”
Other companies have tried to mimic Wal-Mart’s practices. They have even gone to the extreme of losing money on some items just to procure traffic in their stores. In tough economic times, that formula doesn’t produce revenue. In a good economy OR bad economy, the bigger truck theory only works if there is some profit on the sale

$ 4.35 Billion Given To Race To Top Winners For School Reform
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
If you need to improve your school, just check with President Obama. He pays $ 4.35 billion to schools in America to make some improvements. There is a reward given to schools within the “Race to the Top” program. If the community wants to “improve schools and close the achievement gap,” they qualify for the program. Nine new “Race to the Top” winners are announced to share this round’s $ 3.4 billion grant, as outlined by the U.S. Department of Education: The amounts going to Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and Washington D.C. will be announced later on. There is more coming with a round of $ 350 million going to states that have different student assessment.
Others besides ‘Race to the Top’ winners changing
States needing money are inspired by the “Race to the Top” grant. New teacher accountability directives and no caps on funding for charter schools are two of numerous moves states have made to make an effort to win the “Race to the Top” prize. 19 finalists were chosen in July from 35 states and also the District of Columbia who applied for round 2. Right now, there are 46 states and the District of Columbia that have participated in “Race to the Top”.
Keep away from state education leaders and unions
“Race to the Top” can’t please everyone. It hasn’t been approved universally. MSNBC explains that teacher evaluations having a connection to standardized test performance wasn’t something teachers unions wanted when state education officials didn’t want school districts giving the federal government control with “Race to the Top”.
Reform America needs
Is seems like things are good. This is especially true with the outlook. A statement was given by Democrats for Education Reform. This showed most of what the public opinion is on the “Race to the Top” program going on. The statement addresses many civil rights and child advocacy groups and local business. The statement said the move was a great and bold one that should have been done. The statement expressed the desire to have teachers unions work better with these groups to get a result desired by every person in American schools.

At The First Sign Of Possums, Call The Possum Removal Experts
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
YOU WILL BE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE IF YOU THINK YOU CAN GET RID OF THE POSSUMS ALL BY YOURSELF! For al intent and purpose, this is one advise I can give that is worthwhile. Don’t ever believe it when they say it’s just so easy. All I’m saying is that you will be truly surprised and dissapointed. I had the “unfortunate” first hand experience, so I’m telling you all this. Truly gruesome, I tried ridding of the pussuma by myself alone. I know, I know, I thought it would be easy. By failing, I definitely humiliated myself in the process. That’s is just one of the repercussion. Instead of saving, as I have originally planned, the reverse happened. I should have called a possum removal expert to do the job. I should have spared myself of the humiliation.
It was very foolish of me to try and get rid of the possums in the house all by myself. A very foolish thing for me to try. My wife had already warned me it won’t be easy. My wife said it would definitely be better to seek the services of a possum removal company. I was definitely offended by her remark that I didn’t think twice anymore. That was my gravest mistake. I don’t know anything about catching possums. And I paid dearly for it. As it was, I spent my entire week, trying to catch the possums, as I have gloated. I can’t count how many times I dirtied myself in the process. My knees and arms were badly bruised from all the running and falling trying to catch the possums. I have bumps, swellings and bruises all over me. And as if that was not enough, you know what the ultimate insult is? In just a few days, they are back again, all cozy, in our roof. They even have the persistence to burrow new holes in the roof to get in.
I decided to face the music, eat my pride and call a professional possum removal company. That single deed, is what I should have done in the first place. Hiring the services of the possum removal company first before I did all of those workings could have spared me all the trouble. I cannot agree more that they are the expert when it comes to eliminating possums. They have completely won me over when I saw how good they are in catching possums. And they did it in a proper and humane way. Our roof was sealed tight like a submarine. Nothing goes in, nothing comes out. They strengthen the outside perimeter of the roof. At the very least, the added precautions will frustrate the possums from entering our roof again.
Prop 8 Stay Granted By Judge
Posted on | September 6, 2010 | No Comments
After Judge Vaughn Walker overturned Proposition 8, the California initiative that banned gay marriage within the state, he issued a temporary hold on any new marriages taking place. The same sex marriage hold was extended today by him also. Those against Prop 8 will likely appeal the ruling.
Judge stops Prop 8 from being eliminated
The overturn of Proposition 8 was a big enough decision that Judge Vaughn Walker knew he’d get an appeal. He thought it was a good idea to stop same sex marriages from taking place so as to give a chance to those for Prop 8 to defend themselves in an appeal. August 4 was when Judge Walker made the injunction to stop exact same sex marriages, reports the Los Angeles Times. Today, he given a further injunction until Aug. 18. If the defense from Perry v. Schwarzenegger do not appeal to the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by Aug. 18, exact same sex marriages will resume.
Lacking a realistic basis
Prop 8, as outlined by Walker, hasn’t a legal basis for denying same sex couples to “marry” rather than being called a “civil union” or “domestic partnership.” Loving v. Virginia and Griswold v. Connecticut all assumed the 14th amendment held up the right to marry whomever a person decides, which Prop 8 violates also he believes. Upon announcing his ruling, he stayed the ruling on Prop 8 to give defenders ample time to appeal.
The future of the case
Decisions from Federal courts could be appealed to the Court of Appeals, and California is in the Ninth Circuit. (That is the U.S.’s largest circuit) Once the decision is made within the Court of Appeals, then it could be appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States. The case may or may not be taken by Appellate courts. Six days is the time frame proponents have to decide whether or not to appeal.
